Start(er) of the week

Monday was never my favourite day of the week, but right now… couldn’t be further from the truth.

Rye Bread, Pancetta, Blue Cheese and Toasted Pistachios

During the weekend I bought some smoked pancetta. Also my Sunday afternoon is devoted to baking my fresh bread for the coming up week.

Almond and Orange Cake

When I made this cake on the second time, I have accidently left out the caster sugar from the mixture. I’ve thought, that’s it, ruined, but turned out to be lovely. Not so sweet, but sweet enough, thanks for the orange syrup. The original recipe -by Michel Roux Jr.-, contains 225g caster sugar.

Trout Fillet served on Risotto and Almond Sauce

This weekend I’ve payed a visit to my local butcher , where I always find some lovely cut of meat. Since my last visit the shop has been extended, and now they have a fish counter as well. That’s where I’ve found a nicely cut trout fillet from the local Test Valley. I just couldn’t leave it there.
